1. Information We Collect
| Data | Where Stored | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Email + name (beta signup) | Supabase (cloud) | Beta access communication |
| Auth session tokens | Local device only | App authentication |
| Collected social media content | Local SQLite database | User's research |
| Browser profile (cookies) | Local device only | Platform authentication |
| Usage telemetry (opt-in) | Supabase (cloud) | Product improvement |
We do not collect on our servers: your authentication credentials, session cookies, browsing history, or any data collected through the ParseQuest local collector — unless you opt into cloud sync, in which case only the records you choose to sync are transmitted and stored. Credentials, cookies, and session data never leave your device.
Credentials never leave your machine. ParseQuest never receives or transmits your platform login credentials, session cookies, or authentication tokens. Session tokens stored locally are used only on your device to authenticate the app.
2. How We Use Information
Your email address is used solely for account-related communication: beta invitations, product updates, billing notices, and security alerts. We do not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.
Lawful bases. We process account data on the basis of legitimate interest (operating, securing, and improving the service) and contractual necessity. Beta signup and product communications are processed on the basis of consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
3. Data Storage
Research data collected through ParseQuest is stored locally on your device by default. When you opt into cloud sync, your data is transmitted over encrypted channels (TLS 1.3) and stored at rest with AES-256 encryption.
Cloud infrastructure and database services are provided by Supabase, acting as a data sub-processor under a data processing agreement. A current list of sub-processors is available on request.
4. Data Retention
- Local data: Retained on your device indefinitely, under your control. You may delete it at any time.
- Cloud-synced data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Beta signup data: Retained until 6 months after the beta period ends, then deleted.
5. Sub-Processors
| Provider | Service | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase Inc. | Database, authentication | United States |
| Vercel Inc. | Website hosting | United States |
A current list of sub-processors, including any changes, is available on request at privacy@parse.quest. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or UK, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
6. Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data (Article 15)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Article 16)
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") (Article 17)
- Data portability — export your data in a machine-readable format (Article 20)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest (Article 21)
- Restriction of processing while a request is assessed (Article 18)
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (Article 77)
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (Article 7(3)). To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@parse.quest. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Third-Party Data You Collect
When you use ParseQuest to collect social media content, you may be storing personal data of third parties (e.g., usernames, profile information, post content). In this context:
- You are the data controller for any third-party data you collect.
- ParseQuest acts as a tool under your direction. For data stored only on your device, we do not access or process it. For data you opt to sync to the cloud, we store and index it on your behalf as a data processor, subject to our data processing agreement.
- ParseQuest provides deletion tools (delete by author handle, account deletion) to help you comply with erasure requests.
- You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable data protection law.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes to this policy via email and in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
